Unbelievable!
So if I stayed in Kansas City and had half million to burn, I could buy this 5000 square foot house...for LESS than the friggin cottage. Truly unbelievable!!
Found something affordable!

California Dreamin...
It's about to snow again. I'm trying to make myself feel better by viewing homes in Laguna Beach, CA...where I would rather be!! Doesn't look good so far.....found this tiny cottage about a mile from the beach - quite a deal at only $450K! 600 Sq. Ft., 2 tiny bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Should give the folks out here some perspective!

Cold and Gloomy
Dear Mother Nature,
It's been over two weeks. F**K Off with the no sun thing already.
Sincerely, me.

Driving speed...
It's my understanding that ON-ramps to freeways mean "ramp UP to speed" so you can enter the freeway with the flow of traffic. Kansas City road rules are apparently different. Here is their process as I have observed it:
- Drive onto on ramp looking only straight ahead, going no more than 15 miles per hour.
- Once freeway is reached and ramp up speed is at a whopping 20 miles per hour, it's time to turn and check to see if anyone else is on the freeway with you.
- Now on the freeway, it's time to turn on your blinker to merge, while still maintaining 20 miles per hour.
- Moment of panic before entering freeway
- Hit brakes
- Try to merge but still driving along edge with blinker on
- Enter lane after creating massive road rage in drivers behind you
- Get to destination in your own good time

Exercise
Old motivation to exercise: running on the sand along the beach.
New motivation: It's humid. It's hot. There's not much water around. No exercise can't be a good option. Gyms are expensive and crowded. Any suggestions?

Attitude
I think I can officially say that I am happy being in Kansas right now. If I were living in California with the housing market the way it is, I might be homeless. I have food, gas, a car and a job. I have met some of the nicest people out here I have ever met in my life and I think they really do care. Something authentic about them. I've had people really help me here......for nothing in return. Consistently.
It's refreshing.

New place to live
I currently live at the Hell Apartment Complex. If I wasn't fearful that some weirdo would randomly show up at my door, I'd publicly mention the name. This place is seriously a nightmare. My closet rack broke about two weeks ago and the maintenance man finally came out to fix it. I came home to find this note: "Your cloths is too heavy".....clothes still lying on the floor.
I need to move. I think if I have a place to come home to that I enjoy, I will find Kansas City a much more enjoyable place.

Where is spring??
Pretty hard to get motivated to jump out of bed for work on Monday morning when you wake up in Antarctica. Come on people. This is the middle of April. Is everyone else here praying for snow or what?

Bread
I went to the grocery store and asked where I can find the flourless bread. You can imagine the blank stare I received. His response..."well ma'am, I thought all bread was made with flour!" Okay....I guess items in main stream grocery stores in L.A. are not the same as in Kansas.
The other issue I ran into....where the hell is the liquor section? I walked around the damn store for an hour trying to find some wine. When I asked for help, I was told...just go to the liquor store NEXT DOOR!
Hello! Why not just sell it in the grocery store!!

Weather reports
I don't think I have ever made as big of an effort as I do now to watch the weather. I really don't know why because according to the Saturday report, it would be a light snow and quickly melt off by the afternoon. Here it is WEDNESDAY and there is still snow on the ground. It's cold and there is no green in sight. Not good for a sane person's outlook. Maybe Prozac is in order at this point.

Wal-Mart Nails
Where are all the Asian nail shops? I think there was one on every corner in L.A. I used to get a full set of nails for $17 and a fill for $8. I had my nails done here......$60 for a full set $35 for a fill!
My solution: I just bought a gorgeous set of pre-painted nails at Wal-mart for $4. Free replacements when broken because there are extras. Saving tons of money. Ladies, really, ...you don't have to pay a fortune to have nice nails.

Sundays in Kansas City
I feel really out of place on Sundays.
I sit around pondering "what does the word religious mean?" Does it mean "pretend to be who you aren't?" or is the focus is on being conservative or "clean?" Do religious people strive to be "professional" or better yet..."perfect?" What's the goal here?
Not sure but it feels somewhat fake to me. Most people I've met here secretly seem to want to jump out of the box they've been put in. People here are doing the same things they are in California but here, it's shameful so they hide behind church to look or feel better about themselves?? I'm a little confused. I'd rather see the real-ness of life.
The lesson I'll have to adapt to in order to live here is.....Don't mess with someone's Sunday in the Midwest. It's church day. Period.

Plaza Movie Theatre
I watched a movie at the Plaza movie theater last night and was very impressed. What an absolutely beautiful way to see a movie. I also love that there is an inside hallway that goes over the street so you don't have to go outside in the cold to get to your movie!! Most important feature if you ask me. Great find.
Winter
This is a complete and total shock. I do not understand why hundreds of years ago, the settlers did not pack up and continue moving west once temperatures dropped under 50 degrees. This cannot possibly be normal.
